The Weatherford Middle School Builders Club has partnered with the South Western Oklahoma Development Authority’s TEAM SWODA Holiday Coat Drive to provide warm coats to local residents in need this winter.

Dalton Sisson and Audrey Slagell, both 7th graders at Weatherford Middle School and committee chairs of the Builders Club, both lead the way in getting their club involved. “We just wanted to help,” said Sisson. “We’re glad the coats will help people in need.”

TEAM SWODA representative, Jana Harris, visited the Weatherford Middle School to thank the Builders Club and help count counts before they were collected and distributed. “They were able to collect 82 coats in just one week’s time,” said Harris. “That will help to fill a big need in their area.”

TEAM SWODA Coat Drive boxes were set up across their eight-county area, which includes Beckham, Custer, Greer, Harmon, Jackson, Kiowa, Roger Mills and Washita Counties. The boxes have already been collected, but if you would like to donate a coat or know of someone in need, please contact SWODA at 580-562-4882.
