Free assistance with Medicare is coming to Southwest Oklahoma this summer. Welcome to Medicare events will provide assistance to those who are already signed up on Medicare and to those who need to learn about Medicare. You can also see if you qualify for Low Income Subsidy (LIS), Medicare Savings Program (MSP) or Medicare Prescription Drug benefits (Part D).

The first event will be held Tuesday, June 30, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., at the Western Technology Center in Weatherford. No appointment is necessary for your free one-on-one session. Medicare events will also be held in Elk City on July 28, Snyder on August 26 and Altus on September 23. Exact time and place will be announced later this summer.

This Medicare assistance is funded through a Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) Grant and available for residents in Beckham, Custer, Greer, Harmon, Jackson, Kiowa, Roger Mills and Washita counties. For more information on this event or other services for elderly, contact Samantha Walker, SWODA Area Agency on Aging planner, 800-627-4882, swalker@swoda.org
