The Professional of the Year for the Department of Human Services is Anita Martinez, ADvantage case management director, with the South Western Oklahoma Development Authority (SWODA). The award was presented during the 39th Annual Oklahoma Conference on Aging held in May. The case management staff nominated Martinez, a 10-year SWODA veteran, for the award. She oversees six case managers and one case coordinator in the eight-county SWODA region.
The SWODA Case Management service promotes an in-home, community-based care system and allows frail, at-risk elderly residents to continue independent living. It provides home visits to assess needs of the individual and works to protect and promote the health and well-being of consumers. In order to qualify, an individual must be Medicaid-eligible for the ADvantage program.
Martinez and her husband, Adolfo, are residents of Blair.
The SWODA region comprises eight counties in rural Oklahoma—Beckham, Custer, Greer, Harmon, Jackson, Kiowa, Roger Mills and Washita—covering over 7,000 square miles and approximately 110,000 residents. For more information about the ADvantage Program, contact SWODA at (580) 562-4882.
